Albert-Prévost Hospital Cartierville, P.Q.
This sanatorium for the care of patients with “nervous disorders” was established in 1919 in Cartierville in north-central Montreal. Its founder and medical director, Albert Prévost, was killed in an automobile accident in 1926 at the age of 45. Charlotte Tassé, who had been hired as Head Nurse at the Sanatorium’s beginning, took over and managed it for the following 20 years. The Sanatorium became the Institute Albert-Prévost in 1955 and the Pavilion Albert-Prévost when it merged with Sacré-Coeur Hospital in 1972. Today, it is still engaged in treatment and research of psychiatric disorders.
