Cultivating a Sustainable Food System
A food system is the full cycle by which sustenance is produced, transported, stored, consumed and returned to the environment.
As a large research institution, McGill's operations present both significant challenges and opportunities for the advancement of sustainability. Through community participation and the harnessing of the intellectual resources of the university, McGill has the ability to both enrich the experience of its students and develop its position as a leader in institutional sustainability.
The McGill Food Systems Project is an engaged group of students from diverse educational backgrounds with a common goal: to cultivate a food system that we can all be proud to eat from. Working closely with faculty and admistration, we strive to maximize the ecological, social and economic sustainability of the McGill food system.
