Two McGill Mining Engineering students will be going to Toronto for the second annual auction for action hosted by Women Who Rock. What a great mentorship experience for Mélanie LaRoche-Boisvert and Alexandra Foty to meet with Paul Rollinson, CEO of Kinross for lunch on January 29, 2016!

 

 

Conference attendance

McGill Mining Engineering students participate in select Annual Conferences/Conventions to build their network, to learn, to share ideas and to hone their soft skills. Sometimes students obtain co-op jobs as a result of their participation!

Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC): Some 25 students from the program will participate at the world renowned PDAC Convention. The goal is to participate in the technical sessions and the student program, plus meet peers and professionals from around the globe. March 6-9, 2016.

SME/NSSGA Student Design Competition 2014-2015

Congratulations to the McGill team, all composed of Mining Engineering students, placing 1st at the 2015 SME/NSSGA Student Design Competition phase II! We are all very proud!

 

Congratulations to the McGill Mining Engineering team who will be advancing in Phase II of the SME/NSSGA Student Design Competition on February 15, 2015 at the SME Annual Meeting in Denver, CO. McGill students will compete with five (5) other student teams short-listed from around the world in this unique competition involving a technical design stage and an oral presentation. In the last four years, McGill Mining Engineering teams advanced to Phase II three times!

 

Canadian Mining Games

16 McGill Mining students will participate in the 25th Annual Canadian Mining Games. It will be hosted by the University of Saskatchewan, Wednesday, February 18th to Sunday, February 22nd, 2015.

 

Quebec Engineering Competition

Alexandra Foty and Jonathan Aubertin had the privilege to represent McGill's Engineering Faculty at the Quebec Engineering Competition (QEC) hosted this year by the ETS. The venue took place from January 29th to February 1st. Both students won the debate competition and will be representing the Quebec province during the Canadian Engineering Competition (CEC). This year, the CEC venue will be hosted by Memorial University, in St-John's, Newfoundland & Labrador.
