Socioecology, Language, & Neurocognition: A Systems View of Multilingualism

Most people communicate using more than one language in daily life, leading to a globally emergent multilingualism. Global multilingualism is driven by a variety of historic and current social constraints operative on people and communities. In this keynote, Dr Titone presents a new framework – the Systems View of Multilingualism – to nudge the language sciences towards a more nuanced, inclusive, and socially informed understanding of the multilingual experience that bridges individual, interpersonal, and socioecological levels.
