Our 2019-2020 series will be held weekly on Tuesday evenings from 5:30-7:00 pm, starting September 17, 2019!
The movement-based exercise that many Westerners associate with Yoga is in fact only the asanas, the physical branch of a multi-dimensional spiritual practice that originated in India thousands of years ago. Though practicing the asanas develops strength, stamina, and balance, it is but a gateway into the mental, emotional, and spiritual practice that Yoga represents. The word "Yoga" in Sanskrit actually translates as 'union' or 'connection'. The true aim of Yoga is to connect us to our innermost emotions and the universe around us.
During this one-hour session, students will learn yogic philosophy in conjunction with the meaning behind various yoga practices in these sessions led by a certified yoga instructor. Through engagement in multiple aspects of Yoga, including pranayama, meditation, and asana, students will learn about the spiritual practice of yoga.
The spiritual side of yoga is what makes it such a powerful practice. If you are looking to learn more about how yoga connects with spirituality, please join us for this enlightening and active yoga series led by a certified instructor. Free but registration required as space is limited.
