Marina Thibeault to join the UBC School of Music as Assistant Professor of Viola and Chamber Music

Marina Thibeault (MMus '16, current DMus) will join the UBC School of Music as Assistant Professor of Viola and Chamber Music beginning in the 2019-20 academic year! Here, her duties will include viola instruction, chamber music coordination and coaching, and strings curriculum development. She will also support and strengthen the School of Music's ties to the Vancouver music community.

Marina holds numerous honours and distinctions including prizes from the Père-Lindsay Foundation (2017), "Révélation Radio-Canada" (2016-2017), CBC’s “30 Hot Classical Musicians Under 30” (2016), the Sylva Gelber Foundation (2016), and more. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the Curtis Institute of Music and a master’s degree at the Schulich School of Music of McGill University, where she is currently completing her doctoral studies as well as instructing viola and chamber music. Released in March 2018, her most recent album ELLES has been meet with critical acclaim. This summer, you can find Marina as soloist-in-residence at l’Orchestre de la Francophonie and at Domaine Forget where she will be teaching chamber music and viola.
