Schulich in l'ADISQ 2018 Nominations

Every year, l'Association québécoise de l'industrie du disque, du spectacle et de la vidéo (ADISQ) puts on an awards gala to highlight musicians and music industry professionals in Québec. Included in this year's nominations for Jazz Album of the Year, Classical - Large Ensemble Album of the Year and Classical - Small Ensemble Album of the Year are many Schulich faculty, alumni and students, which we've highlighted in our list below. 

Watch the gala live from Place des Arts on October 28 at 8 p.m. on ICI Radio-Canada Télé to see who takes home the awards!  


Jazz Album of the Year

  • Christine Jensen and the Orchestre national de jazz for Under the Influence Suite
  • Francois Bourassa for Number 9

 

Classical - Album of the Year: Orchestra and Large Ensemble

  • Yannick Nézet-Séguin (Honorary Doctorate 2017) and Orchestre métropolitain for Bruckner - Les 9 Symphonies 

Also noteworthy in this category are those nominated in recording and mixing nominated albums: 

  • Carl Talbot (B.Mus 1991, M.Mus 1993) and Christopher Johns (M.Mus 2010) for Sound Recording and Mixing on Portrait: Max Richter (Angèle Dubeau/La Pietà)
  • Jack Kelly (M.Mus 2016, current PhD student), Christopher Johns and Jennifer Nulsen (M.Mus 2018) for Sound Recording and Mixing on Femmes (Marie-Josée Lord/Alain Trudel)
  • Carlos Prieto (M.Mus 2008) and François Goupil (B.Mus 2000, M.Mus 2002) for Sound Recording and Mixing on Bruckner - Les 9 Symphonies (Yannick Nézet-Séguin/Orchestre métropolitain)

Classical - Album of the Year: Orchestra annd Small Ensemble

  • New Orford String Quartet (incl. Andrew Wan) for Par Quatre Chemins
  • Les solistes OSM (incl. Andrew Wan, Todd Cope and Stéphane Lévesque) for Beethoven / Strauss
  • Daniel Taylor (L.Mus 1992) for The Path to Paradise
