Biography: 

Federico Lazzaro holds two PhDs in musicology (Università di Pavia and Université de Montréal) and is presently an OICRM post-doctoral fellow at McGill University while teaching as an instructor at Université de Sherbrooke and Université de Montréal. His research focuses on music in France during the first half of the 20th century, exploring in particular the issues of artistic migration, nationalism and the aesthetics of modernity.

He is co-editor of the journal Gli spazi della musica and book reviews editor for Les Cahiers de la Société québécoise de recherche en musique.

His more relevant publications include articles on Monteverdi’s Orfeo in the 20th century, Chansons de Bilitis musical settings after Debussy’s, Ravel’s Chansons madécasses eroticism  and Jolivet’s Guignol et Pandore. His book Écoles de Paris en musique, 1920-1950. Identités, nationalisme, cosmopolitisme (Paris, Vrin) is forthcoming.

He has co-organized the international conference Music-Record-Radio in French-Speaking Countries, 1900-1950 (Université de Montréal, 2016, http://musiquedisqueradio2016.emf.oicrm.org) and the international interdisciplinary conference Artistic Migration and Identity: Paris, 1870-1940 (McGill University/Musée des beaux-arts de Montréal, 2017, http://maiparis2017.emf.oicrm.org).
