Essential Skills for New McGill Supervisors Program

Effective communication, actions, and interactions by supervisors play a pivotal role in shaping workplace culture, enhancing employee engagement, and improving overall organizational performance. On September 21st, the Organizational Development team, under the umbrella of My Healthy Workplace, marked a significant milestone by launching the seventh cohort of the "Essential Skills for New McGill Supervisors" program. Nearly 100 supervisors convened in-person at McGill's Faculty Club to start their learning journey.

The primary objective of this dynamic program is to build and support the managerial capacity and network of newly appointed supervisors at McGill. Packed with an array of practical tools and engaging experiential learning activities, this program offers a unique opportunity for new supervisors to expand their professional network and engage in collective learning and knowledge sharing.

This innovative program features a diverse range of pertinent workshops and a blend of team-based and self-directed learning experiences. Here's what a previous participant had to say about the program: “This is by far the best HR-related training I have taken in many years. Participants were motivated through active listening, excellent speakers and relevant material completely tailored for McGill’s context. I recommend anyone with supervisory responsibility at McGill take this training.”
