(COMPLETED) For LAN Administrators: DDI/IPAM Information/Training (2 sessions): February 25 & 26, 2020

The Network and Information Security Project team is pleased to offer 2 information/training sessions on McGill's DDI solution (also known as IPAM).

These sessions are open to all interested LAN Admins and users of all levels. Since there is no formal agenda, participants may drop in at any time during the session to  ask questions, discuss any issues concerning the tool, and get additional support and training if required.

(COMPLETED) LAN Administrator Information sessions - November 2019

The Network and Information Security Project team is excited to offer 3 information sessions for LAN Administrators & other technical support staff members in November 2019.

The purpose of these sessions is to:

• Share project status and latest news
• Inform of significant upcoming changes and work
• Address areas where collaboration and support is needed from staff during the upgrade
• Provide the opportunity to ask questions and discuss concerns

LAN Administrators and other support staff are strongly advised to attend one of the following sessions. If you belong to one of these groups and you have not yet registered for a session, please send an email indicating your preferred session to network.project [at] mcgill.ca.

 

 

October 2019: DDI upgrade (LAN Administrators)

On October 26, 2019 DNS, DHCP and IP Address Management (DDI) will be upgraded from version 6.0.2 to version 7.1. This version upgrade includes significant changes to the application’s interface. Highlights of the new graphical user interface include the following:

• Improved ergonomics and simplified navigation
• Replacement of tabs with sidebar providing access to modules and page hierarchy
• Redesigned menu

December 2017: Cisco AMP: New Antivirus solution at McGill

McGill’s new antivirus solution, Cisco Advanced Malware Protection (AMP) for Endpoints, will be deployed to all work computers before March 2018. For details, refer to the  recent communication that was sent out to McGill staff and students. 

Trend Micro has been McGill’s antivirus solution for several years, providing product licenses for work and home:

• Trend Micro OfficeScan (for computers at work)
• Trend Micro Internet Security and Antivirus (home edition - Windows and Mac

​The home edition of Trend Micro has been renewed for a final year, until December 2018.

Summer 2017: Student Housing/Residences have received a Wireless Upgrade!

Over the summer of 2017, the McGill Student Housing/Residences downtown, MacDonald Campus and Solin Hall all received a total Wireless network refresh.  This means that Wireless service in McGill residences is now faster, and current coverage has significantly improved. McGill residents can now enjoy a better Wireless experience in their homes!
