Greg Tananbaum will offer an overview of what Meta offers to Neuro Faculty, a unique opportunity to discover millions of biomedical research interests in real-time. Greg will run a demo of the tool, then answer questions.
Greg Tananbaum is responsible for strategic partnerships at Meta, a unit of the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative (CZI). Mr. Tananbaum has over 20 years of experience in scholarly communications, academic publishing, open science, and technology. In addition to his work at CZI, he is the Project Coordinator for the Open Research Funders Group (ORFG), a partnership of funding organizations committed to the open sharing of research outputs. He helped conceive of and launch the ORFG, and he has served as its leader since its inception in 2016. In this capacity, Mr. Tananbaum coordinates the open science activities of the 13-member ORFG, who have a combined $108 billion in assets. He also serves as a Consultant for the Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition (SPARC). On behalf of SPARC, he has developed resources pertaining to big deal subscription cancellations, the conversion of journals from subscription-based to open access, campus-based open access funds, and open data policies. Other consulting clients include Microsoft, the Public Library of Science (PLOS), the American Heart Association, and the University of California. He holds a Master’s Degree from the London School of Economics and a B.A. from Yale University.
