Heather Munroe-Blum OC, OQ, PhD, FRSC

Dr Munroe-Blum is Chairperson of the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB), and, Emerita Principal and Vice-Chancellor, McGill University (where she served as Principal for over a decade and was the first woman in this role). She is a Director, Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) and Chair of RBC's Corporate Governance Committee; Director, CGI Group; and, Director and Vice-Chair of the Gairdner Foundation. A Member of the Board of Stanford University’s Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences (CASBS), and, a Member, the Trilateral Commission. 

Dr. Munroe-Blum is a distinguished academic leader and administrator and an outstanding scholar in the fields of psychiatric epidemiology and public policy.  Just prior to serving as Principal and Vice-Chancellor of McGill University, she served at the University of Toronto as Vice-President (Research and International Relations). She is a graduate of McMaster University, Wilfrid Laurier University, and, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she received a Doctor of Philosophy in Epidemiology (with distinction). 

Dr Munroe-Blum serves and has served on numerous corporate, hospital and community boards; is extensively published in epidemiology and public policy, and has been principal investigator on major research programs funded by the National Institutes of Mental Health (USA) and Canadian research agencies. She has served on domestic and international governmental and related science, health, and innovation advisory councils, and, has chaired peer-adjudication research and scientific award granting panels. An Officer of the Order of Canada, and, of  l'Ordre Nationale du Québec, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, Dr Munroe-Blum is the recipient of numerous Canadian and international awards and honorary degrees in recognition of her leadership in research, science and innovation, higher education, health and governance.
