Call for Applications: Open Science Grassroots Committee Members

The Tanenbaum Open Science Institute (TOSI) is currently recruiting new members for The Neuro's Grassroots Committee (GRC). If you are interested in joining the committee, please send an email to tosi [at] mcgill.ca by September 23rd at 11:59 pm and include:   

  • Your full name   

  • Your current position at The Neuro   

  • The reason why you're interested in joining the committee   

We are currently recruiting for the following positions: 

  • PI: two spots available 

  • Postdoc: one spot available 

  • Research Assistant or Research Associate: one spot available 

 

About the GRC

The GRC encourages and promotes Open Science grassroots initiatives and research practices at The Neuro and beyond to advance knowledge and clinical care and the community's welfare.

Members Commitment   

  • Commit to a 2-year term, with the possibility of renewal  

  • Attend up to five GRC meetings a year 

  • Actively participate in discussions on existing and future open science initiatives led by TOSI 

  • Act as a liaison between TOSI and The Neuro’s research community 

  • Advise on areas where TOSI's funds and energy would have the greatest impact 

  • Evaluate Open Science grants and prizes applications as needed

 

GRC composition 

The GRC shall be composed of ten (10) members: 

  • Seven Principal Investigators (PIs) based at The Neuro, preferentially at different career stages  

  • One trainee representative, who is also the Chair of the Trainee Council  

  • One postdoc based at The Neuro 

  • One Research Associate or Research Assistant based at The Neuro  

Equal gender representation should be achieved whenever possible. Diversity across different research groups is also encouraged.  

 

Important dates  

  • Call for applications: September 5th  
  • Application deadline: September 23rd at 11:59 pm 
  • Announcement of the decision: End of September. Candidates will be notified of the decision by e-mail.  
  • GRC meetings: There will be five GRC meetings during the 2024-2025 cycle. GRC members are encouraged to attend as many meetings as possible.  

 

Selection Process 

  • The TOSI team and the Chair of the GRC will choose from among the interested individuals. 

  • Candidates will be assessed based on career stage and area of expertise, given the current composition of the GRC.  

  • Equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) will also play a role in the selection process.

  • Be part of a dynamic and dedicate group fostering culture change  

  • Work closely with the TOSI core team and other TOSI allies
