On April 2, 2025, NeuroSphere hosted Storytelling in Science Research, a dynamic science communication workshop led by public speaking coach and award-winning journalist Pierre D'Amour.
A dozen McGill students explored how to turn complex research into compelling and accessible narratives, gaining tools to better connect with any audience. In this workshop, they learned to use practical tools like structure frameworks, metaphors and script writing to simplify their research and enhance engagement. They then crafted their first story to turn their data and science-speak into vivid everyday stories that captivate diverse audiences like venture capitalists, foundation vetting committees and TED Talk crowds.
NeuroSphere's collaboration with Pierre began in 2023 through a series of public speaking workshops for NeuroSphere-supported startups. These workshops were designed to help startup founders perfect their pitches for Demo Day and effectively engage venture capitalists and diverse audiences at high-stakes pitch events. Pierre is a veteran communicator with over 30 years of experience in corporate communications and pitch coaching. This new workshop, tailored for students, builds on that success to provide researchers at any stage with strong science communication skills.
