Volunteer Opportunities at St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation

St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation manages a full range of activities and events throughout the year to raise funds in support of our Hospital. With the generosity of our donors and event participants, we strive to help support the highest level of patient and family-centered healthcare to the community. The success of each event is in large part due to the contribution of our volunteers and for that, we are very grateful.

Who volunteers at St. Mary’s?
There are many people who volunteer at St. Mary’s, but for our Foundation events we specifically need charismatic individuals who enjoy interacting with people who will act as an “ambassador” for the Foundation. You should reflect and uphold the values upon which St. Mary’s has built our solid reputation for going the extra distance to really care for the entire person. We treat our patients, and our donors, in a friendly manner, with politeness and with the utmost dignity and respect.

Before each event, our Foundation team will hold a Volunteer Orientation to give you a full briefing on all the event details. We will provide you with information packages regarding the timelines, duties, dress codes, menus, guest lists etc.

Two of the most important elements of our fundraising events are the Silent Auction and the Raffle. These initiatives raise thousands of dollars and have a large impact on the final tally at the end of the night. Volunteers who work our Silent Auctions and Raffles need to wear comfortable shoes to cover a large area of the room, sell raffle tickets or encourage bids by promoting the items on display, make sure the bidding sheets are filled out correctly, work quickly and engage with our donors so that they enjoy bidding.

If at any time during an event you are in need of information or have a problem that needs sorting out, you can ask any of our Foundation staff who will always be on hand for the duration of the event. We all work together as a team!

One of the most rewarding experiences of being a volunteer is not only meeting and working with generous members of the community, but knowing that your participation truly makes a very real difference in the lives of our patients and their families.
