Incoming U1

To note:

For your 120 credit (ie. 4yr) B.A., you're U1 if you are commencing in the B.A. with 24 or more credits of advanced standing (see below):

• You are exempt from the Arts Freshman/Foundation Year Program
• You are eligible to choose your Major/Minor/Honours programs when registering for your first semester
• Consult with your program/departmental advisors to confirm whether you are taking the right introductory courses for your academic programs.

Typical scenarios:

1. You're entering with 30 credits of advanced standing from:
   • CEGEP
   • French Baccalaureate
   • European Baccalaureate
   • Some Bologna-compliant high school programs 
2. You're entering with at least 24 credits of advanced standing based on your examination results from:
   • International Baccalaureate Diploma or Certificates (IB)
   • Advanced Level (AL)
   • Advanced Placement (AP) exams
   • Refer to the lists of advanced standing credits and specific course exemptions
3. You've completed university courses at another institution prior to entering McGill, and have received advanced standing for your degree. 
   • As part of the Admissions process, you must submit transcripts from all previous studies. 
   • Eligible advanced standing credits will be recorded on your transcript as general (TRNS XXX) transfer credit.
