This 1-2 week externship is for dental students interested in learning more about the residency programs offered at McGill University by the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. The externship takes place at the Montreal General Hospital.
During the Externship, students assist in different clinical and teaching activities, and shadow the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residents throughout the day. The Externs learn more about the day-to-day life of a resident as well as the scope of an oral and maxillofacial surgery practice.
Externs may be observers only and may not participate in hands-on patient care including dental assisting. McGill University dental students are allowed hands-on externships.
There are no fees for this program. However, all expenses incurred are the responsibility of the Extern.
