Mary Ellen Macdonald is a medical anthropologist with postdoctoral training in Pediatric Palliative Care. In addition to her appointment as Assistant Professor in the McGill Faculty of Dentistry, Division of Oral Health and Society, she is affiliated with McGill's Departments of Pediatrics and Oncology, the McGill School of Nursing and Biomedical Ethics Unit. She is also Core Faculty in the McGill Centre for Medical Education and Adjunct Professor in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Victoria. Since 2010, she has been active as the Program Head of Research on Pediatric Palliative Care at the Montreal Children's Hospital. Her research expertise extends to adult palliative care projects, including those that address the unique needs and experiences of Aboriginal populations in Canada.
