The Canada Research Chair is also open to internal candidates who already hold a tenure-track or tenured faculty position at McGill University.


Position description

Applications are encouraged from scientists investigating parasites of veterinary and human importance, in particular with research programs focusing on molecular aspects of parasitology through use of novel approaches and technologies. Preference will be given to scientists working on helminth parasites but applications from all host-parasite systems will be considered. The appointee is expected to develop a competitive research program supported by external funding and will participate in undergraduate and graduate teaching within the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (https://www.mcgill.ca/macdonald/).

The Institute of Parasitology (https://www.mcgill.ca/parasitology/) and McGill University have a large and dynamic community of researchers focused on parasitic infections, including genomics, proteomics, imaging, drug research and clinical applications, providing outstanding opportunities to establish multidisciplinary collaborative projects.

The successful candidate that satisfies the eligibility conditions of the Canada Research Chair (CRC) program may be supported by the University for nomination to a Tier 2 Chair inHost-Parasite Interactionswhich provides protected time for research within a full-time academic appointment.

Nominees for Tier 2 Chair positions must be emerging scholars and hold the rank of assistant or associate professors, or possess the necessary qualifications to be appointed to these levels. A nominee who is more than 10 years from having earned their highest degree and has experienced legitimate career interruptions (e.g., maternity or parental leave, extended sick leave, clinical training, and family care) will be taken into consideration using the Tier 2 justification process.Eligibility conditions for CRCs are found athttp://www.chairs-chaires.gc.ca/program-programme/nomination-mise_en_candidature-eng.aspx#s3

Qualifications and Education requirements

Women and men holding a PhD or equivalent with demonstrated research excellence and the potential for high-quality teaching in the broad area of Host-Parasite Interactions are invited to submit applications. We seek applicants with a history of excellent and impactful publications and success in securing extramural research funding.
