Welcome Drs. Laurence Chapuy and Naomi Goloff!
The Department of Pediatrics would like to introduce our newest members, Dr. Laurence Chapuy and Dr. Naomi Goloff.
Dr. Laurence Chapuy was appointed as an Assistant Professor in the Division of Gastroenterology and Nutrition.
“I am excited to join the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition at the MCH. I completed medical school and Pediatrics residency in Toulouse, France, before moving with my family to Montreal several years ago. After completing a fellowship in Pediatric GI at Sainte-Justine Hospital, Montreal, I embarked on a Ph.D. in Immunology and Microbiology at the University of Montreal under the supervision of Dr. Marika Sarfati. I received an FRSQ grant for my doctoral work, and graduated with great distinction. My research focuses on the in-depth characterization of the immune response in the blood and tissues from patients suffering from inflammatory bowel diseases.
As a mother of three children, I am pleased to live in Montreal with my family. When I have free time, I enjoy sharing good food with my friends, reading, and completing DIY projects at home. I am glad that I have instilled my love of nature, camping, and hiking to my kids so that we are able to create memorable experiences during our family vacations.”
Dr. Naomi Goloff was appointed as an Assistant Professor in the Division of General Pediatrics.
“A native of Montreal, Naomi Goloff is a pediatric Hospice and Palliative Medicine physician who is thrilled to be back in Canada after training and working in Israel and the United States. Naomi studied liberal arts at Dawson College, then left Montreal to study neuroscience and philosophy at the University of King’s College/Dalhousie University. She completed medical school at Tel Aviv University, a pediatric residency at Cohen Children’s Medical Center in New York, and a pediatric Hospice and Palliative Medicine fellowship at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. After fellowship, Naomi worked at the University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital and at the affiliated Fairview Homecare and Hospice, and helped to build both hospital and home-based Hospice and Palliative Care programs. In 2018, Naomi received the prestigious designation of Fellow of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine after demonstrating significant commitment to the field of Hospice and Palliative Medicine through clinical practice, education and scholarship.
Naomi is passionate about medical education and is currently pursuing a Masters of Health Professions Education through Maastricht University. Her main research interests are in improving and integrating end-of-life education for interprofessional learners in pediatrics, and in addressing serious illness needs across cultures.
During non-pandemic times, Naomi enjoys triathlon, cooking (and eating out), and exploring fun places with her husband and two children, but recent hobbies have mostly included online trivia games and shopping for adequate child-sized masks."
