International applicants (sponsored by contracts) is for medical doctors who are graduates of medical schools listed in the FAIMER Directory (Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research.

You must not be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada and must be sponsored by a contract with your home government.
Files for applicants considered under these contracts are channeled to the office of the Associate Dean by the Government, Embassy or Agency concerned. This is important, as we are unable to consider files sent directly by you or by other physicians on your behalf.
Your sponsoring agency will have all the details regarding your application. Always double check with them regarding your application process.
**Only trainees accepted via these contracts may be considered for programs of more than 3 years in length.

You can apply online by the application deadline via the McGill On-Line Application Form.
Please have ALL of the following documents sent to the Postgrad Admissions office directly from your sponsoring agency:
- COPY of your medical degree & transcripts.
- THREE SIGNED REFERENCE LETTERS on institutional letterhead.
- CURRICULUM VITAE/RESUME
- PERSONAL STATEMENT: clearly outlining why you wish to apply to the program.
- COPY OF PROOF OF CITIZENSHIP: Please consult the following link to determine which legal documents. You must inform the University of any changes regarding legal status in Canada.
- COPIES of your certificates: USMLE exams (steps 1 and 2) and/or the exam of the Medical Council of Canada (MCCEE and/or MCCQE1).
- SPONSORSHIP LETTER: Proof of scholarship granted by a government, a scientific/ international organization, a university, or faculty of medicine. All other scholarships will be refused.
- AFFIDAVIT TO RETURN HOME: You must provide a written statement, committing to returning to your country of origin at the end of the approved training period. You must attest to the fact that you do not intend to apply for permanent residency status nor the licensure/certification examinations in the Province of Quebec. You must also confirm that you will maintain this status for the duration of your training at McGill. This statement is required in order to meet the Provincial Medical Manpower Policies. **Trainees who no longer require a work permit are no longer eligible to continue training under this quota.
- OFFICIAL COPIES of attestations and evaluations of all previous postgraduate training.
- SPECIALTY CERTIFICATE: Applicants for subspecialty training must provide a copy of their specialty certificate.
Only official copies or photocopies of documents will be accepted. Incomplete files will not be considered.
**Documents submitted to McGill University in support of an application to be admitted, including, but not limited to transcripts, diplomas, letters of reference and test scores (in paper or electronic format), become the property of McGill University and will not be returned to the applicant or forwarded to another institution.
Once a physician is accepted into a residency program, the Postgraduate Medical Education office of the Faculty of Medicine will submit an application for a letter of eligibility for postgraduate training in the Province of Quebec to the Collège des médecins du Québec on his or her behalf; there is a fee for this application, which must be paid by the applicant. In order for the Collège des médecins du Québec to issue a letter of eligibility, admitted fellows will have to open an account with physiciansapply.ca , and to submit a few documents for source verification. There is a fee for each medical credential submitted for source verification.
Final acceptance is conditional upon obtaining this letter of eligibility as well as meeting the Immigration Requirements.
