The Inter-University Consortium for Arab and Middle East Studies (ICAMES): The Inter-University Consortium for Arab and Middle Eastern Studies brings together faculty and graduate students at McGill, the Université de Montréal, and other institutions who are engaged in research and teaching on international and domestic politics in the contemporary Middle East. The Consortium sponsors research projects, coordinates several internet based scholarly projects, hosts visiting speakers and organizes academic conferences. Graduate students are actively involved in these activities and some research assistantships are available for students whose research interests match those of the Consortium. The Consortium's activities are further complemented by McGill's undergraduate Middle Eastern Studies Programme and the Institute of Islamic Studies. The Institute, which is located on the McGill campus, has a library containing over 100,000 volumes on Islam and the Middle East. For further information, consult the ICAMES wesite.
