June 2016. Congratulations to José Ignacio Nazif-Muñoz for winning the Steinberg Global Health Postdoctoral Fellowship, from the McGill Global Health program. He will carry out his fellowship with the Institute of Health and Social Policy at McGill University, in collaboration with Ariji Nandi and Mónica Ruiz-Casares.

A recent CPD doctoral graduate (Sociology, supervisor Amélie Quesnel-Vallée), Ignacio received the Arts Insights Dissertation Award from the Faculty of Arts, McGill University for the best dissertation in the Social Sciences for his dissertation Inequity on the roads: the interplay of global forces on road safety policy diffusion and traffic fatalities and injuries

Helen Cerigo, doctoral student, McGill University Department of Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Occupational Health and doctoral trainee, Centre on Population Dynamics

Congratulations to Helen Cerigo! CPD doctoral student and trainee in Epidemiology, Helen (supervisor: Amélie Quesnel-Vallée) is the recipient of a CIHR Doctoral award from the Frederick Banting and Charles Best Canada Graduate Scholarships competition (October 2015) for her project Universal health coverage and social inequalities in health: Understanding the impact of barriers and restrictions to health insurance coverage.

Davis Daumler, recent graduate, Sociology and study trainee at the Centre on Population Dynamics, McGill University

Congratulations to Davis Daumler! A member of our very first cohort of CPD trainees to complete the graduate option in population dynamics, Davis graduated with a MA in Sociology. He will be joining the doctoral program at the Sociology Department, University of Michigan (September 2016), with a concentration in social demography and the Population Studies Center, as a predoctoral trainee.

 

Davis was also the winner of the best presentation award at the Québec Interuniversity Centre for Social Statistics (QICSS) annual new researchers conference April 14, 2016, for his paper: Living apart together: Using retrospective relationship histories to predict entry into residential and nonresidential partnerships after experiencing a dissolution.

Alissa Koski, doctoral student Epidemiology and student member of the Centre on Population Dynamics, McGill

Congratulations to Alissa Koski! Alissa (CPD doctoral student, Epidemiology, supervisor: Arijit Nandi) will be taking up a postdoctoral fellowship at the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health in July 2016 with with Dr. Jody Heymann at the WORLD Policy Analysis Center.
