Dr. Boissonneault’s current research projects focus on estimating current and future speaker numbers for Indigenous and other minority languages and their risk of no longer being spoken in the future. This includes the development of assorted demographic projection models and the evaluation of available data sources. He also conducts research on population aging, particularly the interplay between health, retirement, and the prospect of longer economically active lives. Additionally, he is involved in developing migration scenarios that consider the likely evolution and interaction of its cultural, demographic, economic, and political determinants. He has a PhD degree from the University of Groningen and has been an Assistant Professor at the department of demography of Université de Montréal since 2024.
