Raymond Building - Room Renovation, Demolition & Electrical Work

Built in 1905, thanks to a generous donation by Sir William Macdonald, this building was originally known as the Agriculture building. Amongst other things, it houses the McGill Herbarium, whose collection of over 140,000 plant specimens documents the research activities of McGill staff and students over the past century and serves as a rich source of research material for biologists.

Project Description:

The purpose of the project is to renovate rooms R1-037 and R1-038 in the Raymond Building. Room R1-038 will be completely renovated, while R1-037 is a shared space and only the NW corner area will be renovated.

Project Scope:


Room R1-038 will require a complete renovation. Demolition of flooring, furniture, ceilings, door and frame. Trenching for replacement of drainage, mold an humidity remediation, furring out of walls for services and relocating of electrical panel. New electrical electrical outlets, data and gas outlets, new cup sink.
Room R1-037 will require removal of existing wood shelving, two new wall mounted attachments for argon cylinders and punctual upgrades to mechanical and electrical distribution. Only the NW corner area is to be renovated in this project.
