Wirth Opera Studio - Renovations #88

Type: Construction / Status: Design

The Wirth Opera Studio is named after Manfred and Eliza Wirth, generous benefactors and fans of McGill Opera.  During Opera season rehearsals the students call Wirth home.  It doubles as a recording/research space, and thanks to its sprung floor, it is also well suited to be used as a dance studio. Our Health Series, available to our students, featuring yoga classes and Alexander technique workshops, is also held in Wirth.  The magic of the Opera stage takes form within these walls brought to life by young voices.

Project Description & Project Scope:

  • Acoustic treatment for health and artistic purposes
  • Replace lighting to suit the needs of the opera program both from a rehearsal and performance point of view
  • Refinish the floor
  • Improve connectivity to assist with distance learning

This is the main rehearsal space for the opera program
