New Program Launch: MI4 funding for COVID-19 research

Published: 23 March 2020

The McGill Interdisciplinary Initiative in Infection and Immunity (MI4) is pleased to announce the launch of an emergency coronavirus research fund to support nimble and effective interventions and studies in this crisis. This fund will be used to accelerate COVID-19 biomedical and social sciences research across the entire MI4 community through strategic support of key platforms and research projects that can provide solutions for the current pandemic.

The MI4 Emergency COVID-19 Research Funding (ECRF) opportunity is seeking bold and innovative proposals, spanning two broad areas of research:

- Biomedical studies focusing on the development of new therapeutic and preventive measures, and/or

- Social, legal, economic, psychological, policy or other non-biomedical studies focused on the impact of control measures or of the pandemic itself.

This opportunity provides one-time funding of up to $250,000 for 6-month projects that can provide immediate answers to questions relevant to the COVID-19 crisis. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and while funds remain available. An envelope of up to $1.5 million from the emergency fund is currently available to support MI4 ECRF projects, and more funds may be allocated as fundraising efforts continue.
