Facility Animal Care Committees (FACCs)

FACCs oversee all animal activities by approving protocols from researchers and instructors involving live animals, by inspecting all locations where animals are present, refining the program and resolving issues.

Downtown Campus

For Faculties of Medicine and Health Sciences, Science, Dental Medicine and Oral Health Sciences, and Engineering. All protocols are to be received 11 days before the meeting date via the AMS on-line software. Note that Annual Reviews (short renewals) and amendments do not wait for a meeting unless otherwise flagged. 

  • Coordinator of the Facility Animal Care Committee: animalethics.review [at] mcgill.ca (Email).
  • The Downtown Campus A Committee is for cell biology and tumour type protocols. Meeting are usually on the last Tuesday of each month except in the summer.
  • The Downtown Campus B Committee is for behaviour, physiology and non-human primate type protocols. Meetings are usually on the first Tuesday of each month except in the summer.

Macdonald Campus

The Macdonald Campus Committee is for Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences and Field Type Studies. Meetings are usually the second Tuesday of each month


Montreal Neurological Institute

Please consult the MNI ACC Website for MNI ACC meetings and AUP submission information. Meetings are usually on every 3rd Wednesday of the month.


Animal Policy and Welfare Oversight Committee (APWOC)

Meetings are at least 4 times a year.
