Quebec (Provincial) Funding Sources
Fonds de recherche du Québec (FRQ)
The Fonds de recherche du Québec (FRQ) are three provincial research funding agencies that promote and financially support research, knowledge dissemination and researcher training in Québec. The three Fonds support researchers in the following areas:
- FRQ - Nature et Technologies (FRQNT): for researchers in the natural sciences and engineering
- FRQ - Société et Culture (FRQSC): for researchers in the social sciences and humanities (including arts and literature)
- FRQ - Santé (FRQS): for researchers in the biomedical and health sciences
OSR provides information and services to support applications to FRQ funding opportunities. For an overview of the main FRQ funding opportunities, see OSR’s Table of Agency Programs.
Other provincial sponsors
OSR and the Industry Partnerships team provide support for other provincial funding opportunities that are offered by government departments, non-profit organizations, and provincial consortia. Such sponsors include the Ministère de l’Économie et de l’Innovation (MEI), the Ministère des relations internationales et de la Francophonie (MRIF), and Génome Québec.
For more information on these funding sources, please consult the Research and Innovation (R+I) Funding Opportunities Database, or contact innovation.vpip [at] mcgill.ca (Industry Partnerships) for non-FRQ provincial funding opportunities requiring industry participation, or info.osr [at] mcgill.ca (OSR) for all other provincial funding opportunities.
