World Voice Day Screening
Feel your throat tired or lose your voice after teaching, singing, coaching, talking at front desk, a night out or coughing? On April 1st and 2nd 2015, we welcomed everyone to get their voice condition screened. Questionnaire, perceptual voice evaluation and computerized voice analysis were conducted. Participants were advised whether they were at high risk or may already have voice disorders. If unfortunately so, they were referred to our World Voice Day Ear-Nose-Throat doctor at MGH for further medical consultation. A total of 62 participants were screened over the two-day period and 18 of them were referred to the ENT doctor.
World Voice Day Workshop
On April 2nd 2015, SCSD students gave a workshop on vocal warm up exercises. A short vocal warm up improves the quality of the sounds you make and helps prevent vocal injury, keeping you in good voice and making your voice production feel better. The workshop was held at the New Music Building. A total of 17 participants, including SCSD students, singers, speech-language pathologists, teachers, attended the workshop.
