Welcome to the Surgical Foundations Training Program at McGill University, in the Faculty of Medicine!

Surgical Foundations is home to approximately 70 surgical junior residents every academic year, who come from the disciplines of Cardiac Surgery, General Surgery, Neurosurgery, Orthopaedic Surgery, Otolaryngology, Plastic Surgery, Urology, Vascular Surgery, and Diagnostic Radiology.

Our program’s  surgical training  goals are enhanced by weekly academic sessions, which are led by dedicated surgeons and other staff from the McGill University Health Center (MUHC) and the Jewish General Hospital. Residents from the Oral Maxillofacial, and Obstetrics-Gynecology programs are also welcomed.

Through their training in the MUHC, one of the world’s foremost academic centres, residents come to possess a well-versed surgical knowledge base which has been achieved through research and development of technical skills and to an adherence of CanMeds goals, giving them the footing to being the next generation of leading medical professionals.
