Prospective students of the School of Information Studies are encouraged to investigate the following financial aid options:
McGill University financial aid
For information on possible sources of financial aid, contact McGill's Scholarship and Student Aid Office. This office provides information on government aid, institutional loans, bursaries and awards, as well as counseling on budget and debt management. School of Information Studies bursaries are awarded on the basis of financial need and are administered by the Scholarship and Student Aid Office.
Newly accepted students may apply for Entrance Financial Aid via the Financial Aid Menu on Minerva. Applicants for university and faculty financial aid must first avail themselves of government and other sources of assistance for which they may be eligible.
In-course students may apply for In-Course Financial Aid via the Financial Aid/Awards Menu on Minerva.
PGSS/GPS Education Bursary. With matching funds from the Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies Office, Post Graduate Student Society members have been supporting graduate students in need since 2009. Students who submit an application for In-Course Financial Aid are automatically considered for the PGSS/GPS Education Bursary.
Entrance scholarships for MISt students
The Graduate Fellowships & Awards Calendar outlines the various scholarships, bursaries, and prizes available to Master of Information Studies students. Scholarship, bursary, fellowship and prize values are based on funds available.
All admitted MISt students are automatically considered for entrance scholarships, granted on the basis of academic merit and overall achievement as evidenced in the admissions application. There is no form to complete. Scholarships are allocated at the discretion of the School of Information Studies and according to available funds.
