Research Seminar: "Beyond Classic Educational Paradigms: The Place of Human-Information Interaction in Adaptive Educational Technologies." Dr. E. Blanchard

Join us for a talk on Human-Information Interaction (HII) in adaptive educational technologies with guest speaker Dr. Emmanuel Blanchard. Dr. Blanchard is Assistant Professor, Dept. of Architecture, Design, & Media Technology, Aalberg University, Denmark.

Using examples of his own research projects, Dr. Blanchard will be discussing some of the ways HII is employed in this field, from the digitizing of expertise and the development of serious games grounded on motivational principles, to the creation of culturally-aware tutoring systems and similar culturally-aware information technologies. He will conclude by providing additional reflections on emerging research trends where HII-specific developments appear to be extremely promising.

Human-Information Interaction (HII) is a construct that has been recently emerging. Taken from the perspective of communication and information theories, it can be understood as a spinoff of Human-Computer Interaction. Its focus is on connections between human beings and ambient information, rather than on communications characterized by interaction with non-human agents. Despite the novelty of this research field, scholars have indeed been dealing with HII for years without naming it.
