SIS Student Group Site Web Editor Instructions

The SIS Student Associations website is a student-run site for McGill School of Information Studies student associations and groups. However, since it is a McGill website, students will be required to complete a hands-on workshop on the McGill Web Management System (WMS) in order to gain editing access.

More information on the WMS training process can be found on the IT Knowledge Base

Outline of the process

  1. Each student group with pages on the SIS Student Associations website is required to assign one primary editor for training each Fall. In addition, if your web editor will be graduating, your group is strongly encouraged to register a temporary/backup web editor in early Spring. This will ensure no breaks in your group's web editing access over the Summer and early Fall.
  2. Designated editors should review the McGill IT Services calendar and note preferred training times for WMS 300 (Site Editing). The MISSA Internet Communications Officer should select times for both WMS 300 and WMS 301 (Site Management).
  3. Designated editors can register for the course(s) through Minerva. Under Registration Information, you may enter the SIS Administrative Officer as your supervisor.
  4. IT will grant access to edit the site within a few days of the training.
