Career Development

It’s never too early to start thinking about career development! With our partners at McGill Career Planning Service (CaPS), we offer workshops and panels that will help you determine what careers may suit your skills and experience, and help you perfect your applications. We also offer the highly popular Basic Business Skills series that features weekly lectures and hands-on case studies.

Offerings

Want a career in academia? Not sure what skills and experiences will boost your application? This series of panels will discuss a broad range of topics related to a career in academia including the job talk, writing CVs for academic positions, women in academia and more.

Are you interested in business but are not sure if it is something you should pursue? Find out if a career in business is for you. This 10-week series will take participants through a basic business foundation using weekly lectures and hands-on case studies. Topics range from marketing, finance, ethics, consulting and more.

Interested in a career outside of academia? Not sure what is available in your field of interest? Panel discussions and workshops will be hosted over the course of the month on topics such as pharma careers, making a career transition for Post-Docs, think tanks, how to build a career in international cooperation and much more.

This annual offering brings together women from different stages in their career to discuss the challenges women face in academia. Past topics have included the academic interview, work-life balance and career advancement.
