I am is a doctoral candidate in the Mathematics and Science Education Concentration program at McGill University. Prior to beginning my doctoral studies, I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and Industrial Education at National Taiwan Normal University, a teacher-education university in Taiwan. I joined McGill in 2011, and completed a M.A. degree in Educational Studies in 2014. My background in science and technology education in Taiwan and Canada has strengthened my understanding of complex relations between science and policy.

This masters program is potentially taking me towards my fourth career.  First, I worked as a chemical engineer for the Dow Chemical company for 11 years.  Then, for nine years, I was a full time domestic engineer/mom/taxi driver/cook for my 4 amazing children.  Thirteen years ago, I completed my BEd at McGill and I have been teaching secondary science since that time.  I am hoping that this masters degree will bring me to the next career of teacher educator.  On a personal note, when the winter arrives I feel total joy.  Cross-country skiing is my winter addiction.

I am a 44 year young M.A. student, mom to two wonderful children (Noah 10 and Lily 12), wife to one outstanding husband (Frederic) and master to two crazy pups (Boo and Gibbs). I am the assistant director of adult general education and vocational training centers at the Riverside School Board. Previously to that I was an educational consultant and a high school science and PEH teacher. My research lies in the area of communities of practice and math teacher PD. I aspire to finish my thesis one day, LOL! When I'm not busy with kids, school or work, I enjoy soccer, running, yoga, knitting and sewing... not to mention time with the pups. I love sushi (Japanese food in general).
