"We kind of expected from what we saw on the ground and from reports from local public health units that we would see this pattern," said lead author Mathieu Maheu-Giroux, an assistant professor in McGill University's department of epidemiology, biostatistics and occupational health in Montreal. "But it was quite striking to see this consistency."
