Overview

History : Origins of the Yugoslav idea in 19th-century national movements; the rise and fall of the interwar Kingdom of Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes; occupation, ethnic cleansing, and partisan warfare during WWII; the evolution of Titoist rule and the interplay between Communism and nationalism; and the violent fragmentation of Yugoslavia after 1989.
