Each year, the Trottier Institute for Sustainability in Engineering and Design (TISED) at McGill University and the Institut de l’énergie Trottier (IET) at Polytechnique Montréal take turns hosting this event. Made possible through the generous support of Dr. Lorne Trottier, this is a forum for students, professors, government and industry professionals to connect with the general public on advancements for sustainability through engineering and design. The Annual Symposium focuses attention on the relevance of sustainable engineering and design to peoples’ lives.
The First Annual Symposium was hosted by McGill University in 2014 on Sustainable Cities and Industries and the Second Annual Symposium was hosted by Polytechnique Montréal in 2015 on Energy in Quebec and Canada: A Conversation Starter and the Third Annual Symposium was once again hosted by McGill University in 2016 on Renewable Energy: What holds us back? What moves us forward?”. The Forth Annual Symposium was hosted by Polytechnique on Transportation: What's fuelling the transition, and the Fifth Annual Trottier Symposium was hosted by McGill on Planning for Resilience in the Face of Climate Change.
