Prof. Joel Pedersen research interest are environmental interfacial chemistry, specifically molecular-scale interfacial processes of nanomaterials with biological systems, and its environmental implications TISED
Dr. Mark O'Malley
Mark O'Malley is Professor of Electrical Engineering at University College Dublin (UCD), founding Director of the Electricity Research Centre and Director of the UCD Energy Institute a multidisciplinary, multi-institutional, industry-supported research activity
Dr. Thilo Hofmann
Chair and Professor of Environmental Geosciences, University of Vienna (Austria)
In residence: April - October 2019
Prof. Hofmann collaborated with TISED and its members to link plant-nanobiotechnology with industrial agriculture, water resources and supply, waste management, and environmental resilience.
Dr. Pedro Alvarez
George R. Brown Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Rice University
Director of the NSF ERC on Nanotechnology-Enabled Water Treatment (NEWT)

Dr. Alvarez will be working with TISED on two inter-related areas: (i) safe and sustainable nanotechnology and (ii) resilience of water systems for safe and sustainable water supplies.
Dr. Stefan Grimberg
Professor, Clarkson University
In residence: January - June 2017
Anaerobic digestion researcher, Dr. Stefan Grimberg, will collaborate with TISED and others to study the environmental, economic and associated policy implications of diverting source-separated organic waste from landfills to wastewater treatment plants. Additionally Dr. Grimberg will work with TISED to assess and develop policies that minimize impact on the environment while realizing their energy and nutrient recovery potential.
Dr. Chris Marnay
Principal, Microgrid Design of Mendocino (MgDoM)

Over the last 15 years, Dr. Chris Marnay’s work and research has focused on microgrids and he has become a very influential researcher in this area. Dr. Marnay will bring his experience to bear, working with TISED and others on exploring the benefits of microgrids and their role in smart grid deployment and sustainable resilient communities.
