From Saturday, Oct. 5 through Monday, Oct. 7, the Downtown and Macdonald Campuses will be open only to McGill students, employees and essential visitors. Many classes will be held online. Remote work required where possible. See Campus Public Safety website for details.

Translational Physics and Radiobiology

We address limitations in medicine by combining basic and translational research from disciplines spanning over physics and engineering, artificial intelligence to radiation biology. We develop medical devices for imaging and treatment of cancer as well as algorithms and software to personalize radiotherapy treatments tailored to each patient. The outcome of our research will contribute to better diagnosis and treatment for our patients while decreasing the side effects.

Theme leader:

Dr. Shirin Abbasinejad Enger - Associate Professor, Department of Oncology, McGill University
Development of devices for imaging and treatment of cancer, Development and introduction of novel radiation sources, radiation delivery systems, fast Monte Carlo and artificial intelligence-based dosimetry and dose optimization algorithms, artificial intelligence-based multimodality treatment outcome prediction models

Members:

Dr. Slobodan Devic - Associate Professor, Department of Oncology, McGill University
Use of multi-modality functional imaging (DECT, PET/CT, MRS) for definition of Biological Target Volumes for Radiotherapy Treatment Planning

Dr. Hamed Bakerat – Faculty Lecturer Department of Oncology, McGill University
Radiation dosimetry in particular radiochromic film dosimetry, Development of radiation delivery systems and dosimeters for radiotherapy applications
