The student will be integrated into the interdisciplinary team of the Alan Edwards Pain Management Unit and will gain experience in the multidisciplinary management of chronic pain.

During their rotation students will receive clinical exposure and instruction in the following domains

  1. Appreciation of the complex, multi-dimensional nature of chronic pain

  2. How to develop interpersonal and communication skills in the setting of complex chronic pain diseases

  3. How to function in a multidisciplinary team setting

  4. How to evaluate patients with chronic pain

  5. Basics of non-invasive and invasive pain therapies, including non-pharmacological and pharmacological approaches and invasive intervention

In addition to their active participation in the Unit’s clinical activities students will also attend all regular clinical rounds, staff meetings, Journal Club and education sessions.
