Geography (Urban Studies)


Overview

What makes a city unique? How do human values and relationships shape urban spaces? What challenges do cities currently face? Urban studies brings together fields like geography, architecture, political science and sociology to help us understand how urban areas have developed, how they may change in the future, and how we can solve their most pressing dilemmas.

This major will expose you to various approaches to Urban Studies. You can take courses in statistics, geography, architecture, civil engineering, political science, urban planning, management, sociology and more. Explore your unique interest across fields in this truly interdisciplinary program.

You will graduate with the skills and knowledge to help solve complex issues related to housing, transportation, social services and more. 


Careers

Through your course work, you will gain both theoretical knowledge and universal skills like research, critical thinking, communication, and teamwork in order to thrive in a variety of careers related to the field. You can work for governments, academic institutions, or private companies. You may also wish to pursue further studies in an area like urban planning or architecture.
