Caroline De Roy receives the President’s Award for Administrative and Support Staff
Congratulations to Caroline De Roy (Redpath Museum), who received the President’s Award for Administrative and Support Staff in the Technical, Library Assistants and Nurses category.
The annual awards honour staff members who have made exceptional contributions to the University; this year, eight individuals were recognized.
“Through the commitment and expertise that they bring to their work, this year’s winners have contributed in incredibly diverse and meaningful ways to the advancement of McGill’s mission,” said President Deep Saini. “This recognition speaks to the important impact of their work and the profound appreciation they have earned from colleagues and supervisors across our University.”

Caroline De Roy has made extraordinary contributions to the Redpath Museum’s collections, exhibitions, teaching, and research missions. Her specialized technical knowledge and creativity, spanning every stage from planning through execution, have been vital to delivering high-quality exhibitions. Her meticulous attention to detail has been instrumental in complex projects like Creek 53: Portraits of Living Nature, where she collaborated closely with the artist to integrate artwork and museum specimens seamlessly. She has made a remarkable impact on collections care by proactively identifying, cleaning, and stabilizing materials. Over the past year, she oversaw the cleaning of more than 2,000 display items and 200 specimens, while integrating 4,570 photographs into the digital collections database. Caroline consistently surpasses the scope of her duties to deliver sustainable results, from refurbishing damaged exhibit supports to driving down operational waste and costs. Her leadership in establishing rigorous, standardized procedures for collections management, loans, digital archiving, and emergency preparedness has profoundly strengthened museum operations. Caroline De Roy’s exceptional resourcefulness and steadfast dedication make her a worthy recipient of the President’s Award for Administrative and Support Staff in the Technical, Library Assistants and Nurses Category.
