Homecoming 2026: Faculty of Science events
Homecoming is a time to reconnect, celebrate and rediscover what makes our community special. Taking place October 22–24, this year’s festivities include three Faculty of Science events on Friday, October 23, offering opportunities to reconnect with old friends and discover what’s new across the Faculty.
Explore the three Faculty of Science events:
8 AM - 10 AM: Discoveries That Matter: Faculty of Science Homecoming Breakfast & Lecture
Begin the day with a light breakfast and informal networking, followed by a presentation by Professor Vicky Kaspi, Director of the Trottier Space Institute at McGill and one of Canada's leading astrophysicists. Professor Kaspi will explore how advances in radio astronomy are revealing a dynamic universe and transforming our understanding of some of space's most intriguing phenomena.
Hosted by Dean Watt, the event offers an opportunity to reconnect with the Faculty of Science community while learning about groundbreaking research taking place at McGill. The presentation will conclude with a question-and-answer session, giving attendees an opportunity to engage with the speaker and explore the topic further.
2 PM - 4 PM: Biology Lab Tours and Reception
Come see the brand-new West wing of the Stewart Biology Building and go behind the scenes of McGill Biology labs! See dinosaur fossils being prepared, explore 3D printing and drone tech, check out ancient stromatolites, watch live-cell imaging, and learn about bacteria. Guided tours of participating labs will showcase facilities, equipment, and ongoing projects, with professors and students on hand to answer questions.
4 PM - 7 PM: Earth & Planetary Sciences 2026 Homecoming Wine and Cheese
Come celebrate Homecoming with the Earth and Planetary Sciences (EPS) Department! Reconnect with former classmates and catch up with current students, faculty and staff while enjoying refreshments together. We welcome all members of the EPS community, including alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends of the department.
