Our laboratories are located in rooms 5050, 5120 and 5310 in the Wong Building, and is fully equipped with state-of-the-art instruments and specially designed reactor systems to develop new catalysts, study catalytic processes and investigate detailed reaction mechanism. In addition, we have access to the Analytical Laboratory of the Chemical Engineering Department as well as to other facilities at McGill for SEM, TEM, XRD, XPS, ICP, NMR and many more.
The CPE Laboratory can analyze various samples (solids or gas) for you. For example:
BET surface area and pore volume of porous solid materials (catalyst, carbon, adsorbent, etc.).
Active surface area, metal dispersion and crystallite size of catalysts via chemisorption.
Reactivity studies and catalyst screening (up to 900°C) with online gas analysis (Mass spectrometer, Gas chromatography).
Adsorption studies and break-through curves.
