May 7 marked the reopening of the Jim Lund Clinic at Welcome Hall Mission, after a renovation project doubling the number of treatment chairs to meet the clinic’s growing needs. We are grateful for our partnership with Welcome Hall Mission, who shares our values and mission to provide essential dental care to all members in the community regardless of financial means or background, and for the major gift from GreenShield whom without this expansion would have not been possible.
Our dental medicine students will continue to work at the clinic to gain valuable hands-on experience. As Dean Elham Emami said during her speech, "It is the responsibility of universities and academics (to train) students and residents to be socially responsible and have the cultural competency and transversal skills to work with different communities and patients".
