Graduate Student Research Progress Tracking Policy

In accordance with the Graduate Student Research Tracking Policy and the guidelines put forth by the Division of Experimental Medicine, a student's progress must be monitored and recorded at least annually. Having written agreed-upon expectations and clearly defined requirements aids in reduced times to completion and leads to fewer supervisor-supervisee misunderstandings.

Annual Thesis Committee Meetings and Oral Comprehensive Exams are closed, private meetings for the student and committee members only. Observers are not permitted.

Please Note:  The Division of Experimental Medicine requires that all members of thesis committee meetings hold a full-time academic position.  Managers or directors of core facilities that support academic faculty, as well as postdoctoral fellows, cannot serve as members of thesis committees.

Please refer to the Regulations on Graduate Student Research Progress Tracking, as well as the departmental PDF icon Guidelines on Thesis Committees and Oral Comprehensive Exams (PDF) for more detailed information.  All relevant forms can be found in the "Forms" section of this web site.
