Parkinson’s disease (PD) affects 2-3% of people over 65 years old. Symptoms relating to PD can begin decades before the classical signs of the disease are seen, such as slow movements and tremors. This long pre-PD phase is known as prodromal PD.

This project aims to better characterize Parkinson’s disease (PD) progression and mechanisms. A unique sharable database integrating clinical, genetic, biological and imaging data will be created, and the role of gut bacteria in prodromal PD will be analyzed. This knowledge could allow us to deliver therapies to patients with prodromal PD before motor symptoms set in, reducing the burden of neurological illness worldwide.
