On September 22, 2023 during the annual CARO-COMP conference, Michael D.C. Evans was awarded the 2023 COMP Gold Medal for his outstanding career in Medical Physics.

On June 13, 2023, the McGill Medical Physics Unit (MPU) celebrated the graduating students and residents of 2022-2023 at a joint ceremony with the McGill Department of Radiation Oncology and the Dawson College Radiation Technology program, held at the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre in Montreal.

40 Years of Academic Medical Physics at McGill

Celebrated in conjunction with the International Day of Medical Physics

In 2019, the McGill Medical Physics Unit (MPU) celebrated 40 years of activity in its teaching and research programs. Under the successive directorships of Montague Cohen, Ervin Podgorsak, and Jan Seuntjens, the MPU has developed into an internationally recognized academic program in medical physics featuring accredited education and training, innovation and research, and clinical service. 

To mark this anniversary, the MPU organized a celebration on November 07, the International Day of Medical Physics, featuring a short ceremony preceded by a symposium featuring alumni and members of the MPU. An estimated 120 past & present students, staff, colleagues, and alumni were in attendance.
